About me

I have been working as a counsellor since 1992. I was drawn to counselling after twenty years of teaching in middle and secondary schools where I had an interest in Pastoral Care. I live and work on the Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset borders and continue my contact with young people both in my work and with my grandchildren.

How do I work?

I am trained as a Person Centred Counsellor. Put simply, this means that I believe that the relationship between client and counsellor is very important and I aim to be as understanding, accepting and genuine as I can be. Within this relationship I hope that you will be able to explore the things that are troubling you and find your own solutions. I have a particular interest in the expressive arts and may use creative work with paints, clay or music if you wish. This approach can sometimes help when finding the words is too difficult.

I have worked in Private Practice, a University Counselling Service, General Practice and in a Secondary School.

Some of my counselling qualifications are:

  • Diploma in Person Centred Counselling University of Strathclyde
  • Certificate in Person Centred Supervision
  • Certificate in Person Centred Art Therapy Skills

Professional Memberships

I am a Senior Accredited Member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Snr Accred) and an Accredited Supervisor (of individuals). I abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and am subject to their complaints procedure.

I am a member of a person centred organisation Person Centred Approach South West (PCA SW).
